Dr Anton Ravindran, is currently the CEO and Founder of RapidStart, President of Global Science and Technology Forum (GSTF) and an Adjunct Professor at the Faculty of Information Systems at Bina Nusantara University, Jakarta, Indonesia. He was a visiting Prof and Researcher at the Institute for Research in Applicable Computing (IRAC) at the University of Bedfordshire and Adjunct Professor, Dept of Management, Birla Institute of Technology & Science, Pilani - Dubai Campus. He is currently an Advisor and mentor to FundedHerere (MAS licensed Crowd Funding Platform), TiKEE Pty Ltd, AutoLotto, as well as DBS BusinessClass and Advisory Council Member Colombo School of Business Management (CSBM). He is the author and co-editor of 4 books: "Business Review: Advanced Applications, Forging Connections between Computational Mathematics and Computational Geometry" (published by Springer), "Innovations in Technology Enhanced Learning" and "The ICT Age".
In the industry, he worked for several major MNCs in technical and management capacities including Computer Associates, Sun Microsystems, Oracle and Singalab (former IBM & NCB JV). Dr Ravindran founded and spearheaded 4 IT companies and has won several entrepreneurship accolades and awards including Singapore ASME Top Entrepreneur for two consecutive years (2005 & 2006) and winner of Singapore Indian Entrepreneur for large enterprises (2006) amongst others. The company he founded and spearheaded (Genovate) won the Enterprise 50 award in 2005 and 2006 and was ranked the fastest growing software company (E50) in 2005.
He has been part of various professional bodies and committees (both present and past) including National Internet Advisory Committee (Singapore) - Ministry of InfoComm & Arts, Chair, Working Group for Cloud Computing Professional Development (IDA-SCS), President, Cloud Computing Chapter (SCS), and Vice Chair, Electric, Electronic and Allied Industry Group (EEAI of SMF), President, Singapore Education International (SEI), Member, IT & Technology Development Function Committee for SMF; Council Member, Business Continuity Group (SCS), Member, Singapore Institute of Directors; Exco member of the Singapore Enterprise Chapter (SEC) of SiTF, Member, Citizen's Consultative Council (CCC - Taman Jurong) amongst others.
He holds a BSc, an MBA, and a Doctorate degree in IT Management from the University of South Australia, having been awarded the International Information Technology Management Academic Merit Scholarship. He is a fellow of the British Computer Society and a Chartered Engineer (UK).
The demand for skilled cloud professionals remain unabated globally and Singapore is no exception. There is a growing and strong demand for IT professionals from startups and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) as well as large enterprises across all verticals. This session will address as to how SCS and IDA embarked on a journey to address this need and the Body of Knowledge developed by the working group which was represented by members from academia, IDA as well as the industry. The session will also address the plans to roll out this initiative in the region with partners.
